Hey all, what total amount of lift can I expect from my RE 3.5" super-ride? I'd install and see for myself, but monotubes are on back order for another 2-3 weeks.

More importantly though, does it ride level front to rear? If not, how much higher is the rear? Does it settle and how long does it take? What do I need to do to maintain my ride height if I buy a bumper?

I replaced an old worn out lift when I bought my rig with a Tuff Country 3.5 in E-Z ride...The old lift was 3" blocks under the original leafs with 2" spacers up front. After I put it on, there was a 4 plus inch difference. And it didn't look level. So I put the 2" spacers back in to level it out. I measured my rig against my buddy's stock rig on level pavement, to the lift gate (just above the License plate {standard straight edge}) and there was roughly a 6 5/8" difference. Now keep in mind that I have 31's (trying to save up enough money for 33's) and he doesn't. My only concern is, I think I need an SYE. My stock bolts that are in the frame do not work for a TC drop. I've been having some drive line issues, and I'm thinking that's the reason. Good luck.

 

My issue is specific to that particualr lift since I'm interested in how specific components o the lift line up. Your threadjack, however, is another issue altogether. You just need to do a transfer case drop. Yes I read your message, but it is doable. The 'bolt' that you probably think is stuck in your frame is actually a stud, which means that it can unscrew. They just tend to freeze up in there. Spray it down with pb blaster for a week or two and when you go to remove it, get 2 nuts and screw them both on tightly (so they lock together) and then back out the top nut. It should take out the entire bolt. My buddy had one hell of a time doing it on his 91, but it does work.

RE kits tend to be a bit more lift than advertised.
for example, my RE 5.5 lift net me about 6.5 and didn't really settle, even after 5 years of mostly just trail riding with lots of flexin.
i had to install a 1 inch spacer in the front coils when i installed my huge warn bullbar bumper with warn m8000 winch.
i just had skyjacker hydro 7000 shocks. lasted the whole 5 years.

and RE is so much smoother of a ride than most other competitive lifts i've been in.

 

Thanks. How are they front to back? Is it level? I am under the impression that the 3.5" lift at least is a little tall on the back end (leafs set higher than the coils).

nope, mine sat perfectly level when first installed. only to drop about an inch once i put 300 pounds of bumper and winch on the front.

RE has about the best quality (springs at least) in my opinion. the rest of their parts are of high quality also. rebuildable super flex joints, etc.

 

I am very happy with how they look fresh out of the box. Unfortunately, I have to wait a month before I can install due to the monotubes being on backorder.

my 3.5" sits more level now that it is pretty much as settled as it will be. the leafs are pretty stiff. i think it still sits slightly higher than 3.5" though. if you have a heavier rear bumper, maybe with a tire carrier it will bring the rear down a bit, or you can also add spacers to the front. i've thought about it, just never gotten around to buying them.


heres how it sits now, fairly level.

 

RE lifts seem to always give more than advertised lift.

My RE 3.5 settled to about 3.75 in the front and never settled in the rear. It gave a full 4.5" or so in the rear and stayed there. I didn't care for the difference in ride height and installed 3/4" coil spacers to get it level.

Using 3/4" spacers on RE 3.5's seems to be the norm. Save yourself the trouble and install them when you do the lift. It will save you time in the end.

 

yeah i had the re 3.5: superflex kit on my last 98 xj it was a really smooth ride and it sat very level and that kit could flex like a mothea ****** it was kick asz def. go with this lift kit.

I just put the 3.5 Super Flex Kit, Full Leaf, with Twin Tubes under mine.
It sit a little back end high, but a coil spacer would fix that. But I just trimmed my fenders so I didn't have to spend the money.
Here is the outcome.
I netted about 4 inches out of it.

 

When I put my 3.5" Super Ride on, it yielded almost 4.5" Front and almost 5" in the rear. Took almost two years to settle in, now its about 4" front and rear.



That was it right out of the box.... Because of course the shocks and trackbar were back-ordered.



That was after I first put it on.. but the extended control arms aren't on yet.
