Default RHD WJ knuckles...

after lookin around on the interwebz about OTK steering, getting better brakes and things of that nature, i find i'm really interested in doing the knuckle swap upgrade from a WJ. i've read about using a RHD knuckle from an export WJ for the extra arm up high, then a north amercian one on the passenger side to create a high steer setup.

so, has anyone seen or done this?

where is a good source for the euro knuckle i need?

if you have experience with this setup, and you know what Ackerman is, will i run into some problems with tire scrub? or does it even matter on a DD 4x4?

feedback is greatly appreciated!

I understand a little of what yiure saying, but really have no expierence with the overseas wj's or really any export jeep. Hondas are another story. Id say your best bet would be to google a english or european forum for jeeps. I know they run the hell out of them in eastern european offroad trials, xjs and wjs, and they are popular in england from what i gather on youtube, lol. Goodluck man.

http://www.jeepey.com/
Mostly wranglers from what their intro page looks like. But who knows..

http://jeep-club.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=12
They have a grand cherokee section

And ive heard that most brits stick to the us based jeepforum.com caus their jeepforum.co.uk wants 30£ for a membership.

Again.. Goodluck, hope this helped.

you want part # 5012517AB (supercedes 5012517AA)

I got mine here (after double checking that my intel on part numbers was correct):
http://www.factorymoparparts.com/5012517ab.html

got the part # here:
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knuckle...5012517aa.html
they sell Crown auto brand there, but it was discontinued and I got the real deal from the first link at about half the price...

When yall do this will yhere be a need to move the sway bar mounts on the axle. Would they need to be move higher so they wont interfere with the steering drag link

I don't use a sway bar in the front. Took it off after i installed my lift kit. When i do this, (after i find a non-disco d30) i will cut off the brackets completley if they interfere anyways.

Haven't done mine yet either, but prolly will have to move sway bar mounts. Im going hi steer/ OTK but also already have king 10x2.5 coilovers up there attached on back part of axle by the lower control arm mounts. So I might not use sway either. Well see how it is without...
Right now I'm looking into the feasibility of using JK stub shafts and unit bearings. Supposedly the stubs are about 1/8" longer to make up for the thicker unit bearing. id prefer to not have to weld those spacer plates to the knuckle. I ordered a couple of stubs from Qtech, but they're back ordered so I'm going to check a couple of local jeep yards and hopefully they'll be cheap enough to just buy one for a test fit.
