Replacement Leafs
98 XJ. Stock leaf springs went flat. I'm looking at replacing them. Eventually I want a small 2-3 inch lift on my jeep (saving up). However, leaf springs need to be replaced.
Now here's my thought: Can I put in Old Man Emu 2" leaf springs in the back, but not raise the front quite yet?
Would there be an issue with putting those springs in the back, and then just putting in 2" spacers in the front coils?
Would this make it a poor ride? Is it just really bad practice to try installing something like this?

No problem, numerous people use spacers and those old man emu springs are actually supposed to ride pretty good. I don't see any real problems with running the 2" lift just in the rear - if you don't mind a little rake.

Rake? What do you mean by rake? A term I've heard before, but don't understand. I assume it has to do with the leveling. Can someone explain that?

Rake is when the back of a vehicle sits higher. You see it in trucks a lot hence leveling kits which only lift the front making it level with the back. the idea is a load will make the truck level and not nose in the air.

Would the rake really be that noticeable if I had the springs in the back, and put spacers up front?

I just meant that with just the rear lifted 2" (like you previously stated doing), it would have some more rake. If you had the spacers up front also, it would look fine. Sorry for any confusion.

Projects like this used to be a lot easier when I lived close to my Dad's auto repair shop. But now I just have a limited space driveway & insufficient tools while at college.
Thanks for the assistance everyone!
