Default Renix to HO head swap question

So i have a question for the wise. I have a HO head from a 95 i plan on swapping in on my 87 renix. im keeping the renix intake but i need to replace my renix exhaust manifold due to it being cracked. My question pertains to the fitment of a newer header (91+). Will it bolt in or will i need to modify anything in the exhaust?

I do.

Renix exhaust manifold bolts to HO head.

HO head should be port matched to a Renix gasket.

Here's an HO head ported to the Renix intake and exhaust. Exhaust ports are the same either way. I port-matched the intake and exhaust manifolds. :

Glad you chimed in Cruiser and thanks. Maybe i should have been more clear or im not understanding something(maybe i just have no idea what im doing ) I'm swapping a 95 HO head onto an 87 renix. Im keeping the renix intake but need a new exhaust mani. id like to upgrade to a header and i was wondering how fitment would be for a newer header, say for a 95 as an example. would it clear everything in the engine bay? how will it fit with the existing exhaust?

Here's the deal on later model exhaust manifolds/headers. 91 to ? cherokee units will fit. BUT, they have no O2 sensor bung or eGR bung. They fit in the engine bay perfectly but have a different terminating point than a Renix unit. You need a custom headpipe made with an O2 sensor bung in it or an HO headpipe. Still gotta deal with EGR....

Thanks. Well if I went to a complete 91+ exhaust system (header to tail pipe) I would need an 02 and EGR Bunge fitted correct? I plan on replacing my tired exhaust anyways and I am just looking at my different options. Sorry Im new to jeeps and still trying to gather all the different information.

Another question, where is the EGR bunge located on a stock renix exhaust mani? I thought the valve was mounted to the intake. is it just a place for a sensor to send signal to tell the EGR valve when to open/close? If so Lets say for theoretical reasons my EGR Valve wasnt working correctly and had been removed. If I didn't hook up the sensor would it affect anything?

It's a metal tube from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold for the exhaust gasses to flow through. The VALVE regulates the flow based on outputs from the ECU.

Where does the ECU receive its information for this? Do you have a recommended source I could read up on this? thanks for all your help.

Has to do with engine vacuum which would be MAP, TPS etc. What are you thinking?

I'm just trying to completely understand the EGR system and all its related components. I like to acquire as much information as I can about anything i own.
My mechanical background in the automotive field isn't very extensive, especially on this side. I'm an industrial maintenance mechanic by trade (injection and blow molding). Just trying to learn everything I can.

HO head with renix intake and exhaust manifold gasket. The HO head port matched with the renix gasket? I can still keep renix intake manifold and Volvo injectors a ported throttle body? What head gasket. And a Ho header and Ho down pipe with 02sensor wire extentions?

And intake manifold match ported also. Won't take much.

Renix head gasket.

No need to even extend the O2 sensor wires.....just screw the senor into the downpipe and plug it in.
