I screwed around with a c-clamp for about an hour before I drove to Harbor Freight and bought the $10 ball joint press. You have to cut the bolt to fit the press, but 10 seconds and a sharp hit from a hammer will get it out.

I used a dremel and cutting wheel to cut the bolt but a hacksaw and elbow grease would work fine. Just make sure you cut it flat if you have a press like mine that has a "point" on the end or the press will slide off.

A ball joint press is great to have around for all kinds of stuff. One of my best amazon purchases yet.

Not sure when the breakover year is, but some are actually threaded in there and not splined. I was doing my buddy's IRO lift on his '92 and they turned right out.
