Default Removing leafs from spring pack?

Hi Guys,

I want to run shackle relocation brackets with my setup since I'm just shy of vertical with my shackle angle.

My question for you guys is, can I remove the overload leaf out of my spring pack even though I've already removed the middle leaf?

I have 4.5" OME leaf packs with the middle leaf removed for 3.5". I want to install relo. brackets, but I know I'll get some addition lift out of them. I also want to add JKS boomerang shackles to avoid my shackles contacting the brackets, which may add even a little more lift.

Any info would be appreciated. I thought I would get some settling out of my leafs, but it doesn't seem like they've settled much at all. Maybe cause my shackle angle sucks? I want to be right around 4" when all said and done.

Thanks!
Tom

The overload as in the flat leaf on the bottom? If you remove it you won't have any less lift

Yes, that's the one. I would assume I would get a little less lift considering the overload leaf is like a 1/2" thick it seems. I know it's not much, but I should technically lose 1/2" of lift if I remove it.

I just wonder if it's safe to have the overload, and middle leaf out. This would give me a 4 leaf pack.

You can remove whatever springs you want. The pack just gets softer and looses height.

If it were me I wouldn't pull it just because your springs will probably end up sagging.

Well that's not a bad thing considering I'd be adding relocation brackets and longer shackles.

I'm trying to keep it simple, but I also don't want to end up with 4.5 or 5" out back.

If you are bump stopped it is highly unlikely you will ever use the overload leaf. It is safe to remove and as you stated your height reduction will be minimal but it is something.

Arb reccomends removing leafs to get exactly what you need out of the spring. If you don't like the way OP chooses to do their lift say it and then go away. Continuing to say they are doing it incorrectly and shooting down everyone else's opinion as wrong get really annoying really fast.

Never remove leafs. This causes axle wrap and will destroy not your leafs but driveshafts as well. Do things the right way. Buy new lower leafs or buy hd offroad no lift shackle brackets.

The guy is here for advice. JPXJMOAB is giving the right advice. You don't like it don't read it.

Thanks for the info guys. Had I known what i know now, I would have pieced my kit together. Unfortunately, at that time I didn't so I come to you guys for knowledge, and options to work with what I already have.

JPXJMOAB is just being straight and to the point. I don't mind.

I wasn't asking because I planned on doing it, I was just wondering if it was an option. I actually contacted ARB to find out, and it's only recommended to remove the middle leaf like some of you mentioned.

I was looking to just do the bolt in HD relo brackets (less involved), but I have been eyeing the no lift ones. I have thought about just getting smaller springs as well.

Either way, I appreciate the info. I may have a build thread at some point in the future, so if you guys are ever curious, check it out.
