For all of you guys who ripped out the carpet and bedlined the floors what did you guys do with some of the wiring that crosses over the front floor boards.

I have a bunch of patches to make then I am glassing my entire floor but I don't want to glass over wires for obvious reasons.

Did this to my zj a few months back, i went over most of the wires, i moved the ones that were loose. I patched my floors before with old license plates, some of the larger holes i did after for some reason.

Just make sure your prep work is A+, its gonna make or break it

you said "glass it".... as in fiberglass?

If you use beadliner make sure you have a heat sheild on your exhaust because if it heats up too much it lets off fumes that will kill you.

Idk what you mean by glassing it? But I left that wire unpligged for a little while, bad idea, it made my check engine light go on and my brake lights were all ****ed up... Just make sure that wire is grounded lol.

As for the heat shield on the exhaust, IM STILL ALIVE w/o IT haha, there are still fumes after a couple months but only when the jeep is sitting at idle for more than 10 mins... I drive doorless so that solves it either way!

i am fiber glassing the entire floor.

Going to patch the larger holes with sheetmetal then lay 2 layers of glass down.

whats the point of fiberglassing the floor and then bedliner on top of that?

With the way the unibody flexes, I'm pretty sure you'll end up cracking the fiberglass

yep, pretty much the reason I asked. Also throwing anything in the back, anything bouncing around, etc will be rough on the fiberglass. Not particularly tough stuff

I don't think it will be an issue. the amount of flex in the unibody will not crack anything in my opinion. I have worked with fiberglass for a long time and I do have faith it will do fine.

The back as in where? I am only glassing the floors in the front. The rear is going to remain carpeted.

I am not worried about the glass being damaged. The reason I am glassing the entire floor is to make one continuous surface which looks nicer than patches. I'll let you guys know how it comes out.

Oh I see, I thought you were doing the back since thats where people usually do the bedliner. well, interesting theory. Interested to see how it turns out.

I bought an XJ that the PO pop riveted a new floor in the back cargo area. He then glassed over the whole floor. It did crack and released. I'm sure the prep work wasn't A+ but I wouldn't glass the floor.
