You can check this website
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/1214.html

the alarm / remote start wiring instructions for a 2000 XJ are on that page, if you know your way around car electrical systems, it will be enough for you.

Installed a Bulldog (remote start/entry) in mine back in 2003. It still works perfectly like it did when new. Although I did replace the remote once. Best $29.95 upgrade I ever spent on the XJ.

Somewhere online back in the day I posted a wiring diagram with relays for un/lock. I'll try to find it.

That would be awesome. You wouldn't happen to know which model bulldog you have, would you? I picked up a keyless entry this week but the more I look into it, the more I want a remote start too.

Thanks.

So that's the same model you installed? If you give it the green light I'll give it a shot.

Yep, that's the one. A bunch of my coworkers bought them. I installed all of them. The only part that was difficult was the door locks. One button controls lock/unlock So I had to get creative with two relays. Can't find the wiring diagram. Probably died with one of the several computers over the years.

Just get something more modern than that one. If it doesn't work you're out of money and time. Much better models being made now.

Most companies that sell them have good install info on their web sites.

Good luck!

Well my Bulldog RS1100 finally crapped the bed. It started popping the main 60 amp fuse leaving me stranded once a week or so. I checked and rechecked wiring and could never figure it out.

I was 800 miles away from home and on my last fuse when I decided to just pull the Bulldog and see if the problem went away and now its been since August and all is well. It was nice while it lasted.

I bought this:

The two way function is great and the range is incredible. You do use two relays for the cherokees locks.

I added a glass breakage sensor, it works (can bang hard on the glass and it sets it off)
