Little about my set up: 5.5 inch rubicon express coils Rough country cad brackets Adjustable upper and lower arms w/ bushing ends Iron rock off-road adjustable track bar Bilstein 5100's for 5-6 inch lift 31 inch bfg tires What I've noticed after getting the coils in and everything aligned correct the thing is just darn bouncy. I've read a few places people having not that great of a ride with RE coils that tall I'm wondering if there is another company that is well recommended to give a better ride. Don't want something super harsh but something that will not bounce along the road? Thanks for the input!

3 options.
#1
Use a set of 3.5" RE coils with a higher spring rate and a set of JKS ACOS to set your ride height where you want it.

Run a stiffer set of front shocks. The Bilstein Vehicle Specific shocks tend to be valved a bit softer. Keep in mind that you'll need a set of adapters as well. A couple more links...

Install a set of shocks that can re-valved to suite your needs.

I appreciate your information, but seriously the best option is replacing the shocks? Heck I just got these ones from you at Xmas time! The culprit to me has to be the coils cause I was running zone 3 inch with 2 inch spacers before and it was decent. Gives me some things to look at though. I really don't like running spacers. Don't ask me why I just feel it can be a weak point. A full coil to me feels more solid in my mind. But then again that could be the placebo effect...

i really liked my RE 5.5 coils. they flex real nice. try some bilstien shocks with them.
i only swapped them out because i needed longer coils but kept them for another xj.

Unfortunately if it is bouncy your shocks are likely the main culprit. It is their job to control that. Stiffer springs will lessen it at the cost of less flex and harshness. I feel for you. Maybe since the shocks are relatively new you could sell them and recoup some loss.
Your tires could have an effect on all this too.
Gluck.

So is there really a difference in valving between the 5100 and 5125? Only thing I can come up with is the 5125 is the universal version of the 5100. I'm still saying the shocks aren't trash. But something with a slightly stiffer valving may help out with the bounce. Tire pressure is kept at the stock specs, I think 33? Not near the jeep so can't see the tag right now. It's just odd that after the spring install is when it got really bouncy...

Bilstein does not publish the valving of vehicle specific shocks, but they are in fact softer. The Universal 5100 series shocks are available with stiffer valving. You can see the valving listed on the shocks on my web site.

3" Zone coils are stiffer than the 5.5 RE, seems like this is the difference you are noticing.
