Default rear upper shock mounts

Squeaking and banging upper rear shock mounts on my 2000 xj. When I looked under the jeep the mounts are loose but the bolts are tight..bottomed out. What I want to know is if there is any other way to attach the shock mount. New to this unibody jeep thing and don't have any help

the easiest way would be to get a shorter bolt, or put washers in to suck up some of the length.

Get a ratchet and extension and just remove them and replace the bolts. I'd spray pb on them for a few days prior

if they break, just knock out the weld nut with an air hammer, or a sledge and a center punch. use a telescopic magnet (the little ones for like a dollar at autozone or oreilly's) to fish a new bolt through the big triangle holes in the middle of the jeep and drop them through the bolt holes, put nuts on them. Those bolts break so often it's pathetic, and it's a really really easy fix.

If they break just drill em out and use flush nuts. They worked great for me.

That's alot more work bro.... lol. Been there, done that, it sucked... For real, try knocking em out. Alot quicker and you're not putting a new screw into a rusty drilled through welded on little nut.
