Im looking to purchase the pivot point for a rear bumper/ tire carrier build. Anyone have any good reputable SAFE brands that wont nessicarily break the bank? Oh also I plan on running like a 31x10.50 m/t back there on a cheap steel wheel (like the cragar soft 8's) and mounted as low as possible. Any leads to this would awesome. Thanks for all the help in advance!

I bought this one years ago. Assembled/welded it all together. No problems in over 6 years. This was put on my TJ. It had a 31x10.5x15 spare on it 24x7. I am going to get the same one for my XJ tire carrier when I build it.

i'v see a guy use the pivot on a bicycle to make a carrier. it's all there, pre fit and pre assebled, you just weld on the sturcture you like for your carrier. that was a cheap idea i thought.

Thia is kind of a difficult to explain question but ill try my best... has anyone ever seen a tire carrier hinge that has a notch at like 90 and 180 degrees to hold your carrier out when your like on an incline... actually now that I think about it it would basically be like a car door where it has those grooves that hold it like halfway or all the way open. Seems like it would be kind of annoying fighting that heavy old thing all the time. So does anyone understand what im teying to describe?

lso a very easy thing to fab assuming you have an old door to take the notched rod out of. great idea. so for an old door basically any model car will work and a old bike you can bulid a pretty cool carrier. i might try that this weekend.

So if I were to use this setup I would weld the head of the bolt to the bumper then find a sleeve to run down the shank of the bolt then put a nut at the top? It seems like even if there is any slop at all in that sleeve it would bounce everywhere, and potentially hang crooked, anyone have any insight on this? Maybe its really not that bad
Ill put pics up tomorrow of the way I have it connected, I have the bolt welded inside the bumper not on top of it, so the head is welded inside the steel and on top where the shaft comes out, then the tire carrier slides on top of it, no sleeves, then the nut goes on top of the tire carrier part and welded the nut to the tire carrier so it can never loosen. I have to reinforce my actual bumper now cause the tire swing out is no longer the weak point. That bolt cost me 10.00
