Default Rear suspension setup?

I have 3 inch leaf springs in the rear along with extended shackles, and a shackle relocation kit. It gave me about 6" of lift in the rear which was what I wanted, it rides good and flexes great, my only worry is that it might be to much leverage on the leaf spring bushings and cause them to wear out. Does anyone have theirs setup like this and has it given you any problems?

Only leverage on the bushings is the vehicle weight, and that won't change. no matter what length shackle you use.

The rotation of the bushing inner sleeve in relation to the outer shell to allow movement will change, but not enough to even worry about. What really changes is how much the spring moves combined with the bushing deflection. A highly arched spring will result in a lot more bushing deflection than a flatter one for the same amount of axle travel.

Altho your shackle angle is basically stock...I'd move the top end to the forward bolt and see how that does since it will get you closer to a 45 deg angle on the shackle.

I had it like in the front bolt to begin with but it was gave me too much angle. It's close a 45* angle as it sits.

Your current angle is more like 30 deg than 45...but if you like it, that's all that matters.

In the pic below, 45 deg would mean A & B legs are the same length...since B is almost 1/2 of A, mathematically, that one is closer to 28 deg than 45

It's still a lot better than 0-15 deg angle most (including me) have.......

Putting more angle will cause more leverage to on the bushings, which is probably fine either way. Since you have a long shackle, the angular displacements of the bushing are actually less than in the stock configuration,(given the same distance of suspension travel over bump) so the bushings are doing less work.

When a bushing pivots the rubber is displacing against itself, nothing actually should be rotating (I think you already know this judging from your question, but in case you don't, or for others) So if anything your bushings should last longer assuming the same driving conditions.

If your'e interested in eliminating the bushings I think boostwerks makes a shackle that uses a spherical joint, only real benefit is that it eliminates stiction and allows for a higher angle of twist.
