Rear lift re-work
Hello!
My 2000 XJ was lifted by the previous owner and im working on sorting this out to be a well rounded trail truck.
they advertised it as 6.5" of lift.
16x8 0et wheels with 1" spacers 265/75/16 kenda klever
the front has drop brackets, adjustable control arms, 1 ton steering and adjustable track bar.
the rear has 3" block that need to go away immediately.
So i am assuming the rear leafs provide at least 3" of lift, cant find any markings on them and im not sure how else to id them. to be honest it has a slight rake to it and im not a fan so i dont need all this height back.
I would like to remove the rear swaybar and use the links to extend the rear shocks, the bar pins are bolted to the body with a bunch of cheap hardware, probably stripped the nuts in the frame. not worried, flag nuts for those are on the way.
now to make up for the blocks, Id like to do shackle relocation brackets and according to my research about a 6" shackle. most likely RE Boomerangs.
them coupled with the brackets should net a max of 3" lift.
Hoping that will make for a better ride, more FLEX!!! and less rake.
Opinions? I didnt do much measuring, more figuring and shopping.
Trying to do all of this on a reasonable budget and keeping in mind I sometimes commute about 50mi. a day in the jeep.

Reasonable plan. You will likely have to sacrifice better shackle angle to achieve the height you want which is going to limit droop some. Overall you will just have to install and adjust till it works.

Thanks for the input! that was the thought behind the boomerang shackles. I also considered IRO boomerang shackles which would give me two positions to mount the leaf. or maybe a straight shackle?... there are so many options out there.
I want all the droop!
and also not have any issues on daily duties.

Basically what I run with 5" RE shackles and I get about 5" with good shackle angle. The 6" shackle wont give but about 1/4-1/2 at that angle. So depending on how much squat you can live with or how much shackle angle you want to give up is what it is.

It appears you have a stock shackle.
Assuming you have 3" Leafs I would go this route:
Keep the leafs you have.
HD Offroad Engineering Shackle Relocaters
Rubicon Express Boomerang Shackles
Should put you at 6"

Yea the stock shackles are VERY close to 90deg. if not more. makes for a rough ride. Though Im not sure how to positively ID the leaf springs, I know I am replacing block that measure 3" exactly. so you hit the nail on the head.

Yep, the HDORE relocaters are worth their weight in gold.
Check out my current build thread (at the bottom of my signature) to see them featured.

Remember. These numbers are assuming you have a 90° angle. The reality will be closer to 5.5" if you have a 45° shackle angle.
