Hey guys so I just bought a 2000 XJ with a 3.5" tuff country lift which has a block lift in the rear. Honestly this lift is horrible and I plan on swapping it out with something way better very soon since it rides worse than a rough country add a leaf. I plan on a 3" zone full leaf pack since I run a zone lift on my other rig and I love it. Anyways the tuff country lift is EXTREMELY stiff and it'll eventually give me a headache from driving for 20 minutes or so. When I bought it the tires were around 40 psi and I immediately dropped them down to 32 psi, which didn't help much at all. I have a theory that removing the rear sway bar (dunno why it wasn't removed when putting the lift on) will help with a bit of that stiffness but since it is a block lift I'm worried it can cause axle wrap. What do you guys think?

 

The block lift WILL cause axle wrap, and the sway bar will do little to stop it.

Sway bars even out movement (drop, lift, etc) between sides of the axle.

Axle wrap affects both sides equally, so the sway bar won't do anything for ya.

 

What's your other rig? Unless you're going to load some weight on the front (bumper/winch/armor) don't expect a soft ride out of zone. Their 3" coils are rated at 240lbs. Stock is ~150. I tried like hell to make a zone 3" kit ride good. Control arm drops, shackle relocator, multiple shocks and ended up replacing springs with RE 4.5"s and changed the game. Rides great now. Just sharing my experience.

 

I run a Rustys 3" full leaf/coil/shock/hardware pkg. they give you a choice of coils at no extra charge. A std. set and a HD set for a winch/bumper setup my ride is quite good with the HD coils and extra weight I carry. All leafs/coils made in NA and excellent quality mine have been on for 5 yrs now and no real sag at all, ride is good on/off road.


Good part $479 I think but I would also buy an adj. track bar and I used a set of steel 15x8" wheels with 3.75" of BS to run a 33x12:50x15's (stock U/LCA's).


BTW I run 28# of air in my tires (33x12:50x15's MT) on the highway and 12-14 off road for best ride, comfort and traction. Here is an older photo of mine with the 3" lift and 33's, still the same coils and leafs today for a total of 4 1/2" of lift.
