I am just wondering if anyone knows what kind of structural integrity, if any, the rear fender has with the inner wheel well. I know they are pinch welded together and i would like to trim passed the weld. I have seen tons of people on forums that cut that high and just left it without welding in new steel. I plan on doing something to reinforce it, im just wondering how much i have to do. Thanks

Its not structural, really, its just left open to the elements. Most folks don't like that.

I guess if you do you could seal it with some great stuff. That's what I did on my front fenders between the fender and the liner. It sure does take a lot though LOL.

And that expanding foam actually traps moisture, causing premature rust....

It depends. That skin on the outside is water tight. If you don't fill the gap completely, it will allow water to slip buy and possibly not back out. Yes, it would be very easy to screw up. There is a reason I used so much of it lol.

yeah i just went and looked inside where i had already cut with a light. there is another pinch seam like 6 inches in that really holds the inside of the vehicle together. I just wanted to make sure that if i cut up high enough, the back of my truck wouldn't start to sag around the wheels. thanks guys.
