Default Rear driveshaft length question

I just ordered some 3.5" RE leafs for the rear of my 1995 xj.

I am going to eliminate the 1" block as well as my sagging stock springs. I believe the jeep has adjustable shackles from rough country on the rear, so I will drop them down a notch as well. My overall lift in the back is going to be somewhere about 4 1/2 or so inches.

My question is, at what height have you guys had to get a longer driveshaft?

I know a SYE and a front shaft are the better option, but out of my budget right now. I did pick up a Manual trans cross member (1/2" drop) and was planning on using a 1" drop as well for the mean time. Will this be sufficient for the driveline? Just seeing if anyone has some input before I swap it all out and then have to send out my driveshaft for to be lengthened.

Thanks in advance guys.

Just remember that each Jeep reacts differently to mods. You can take all the advice given here to get an average length for a shaft for you. The best way is to lift and then measure between the yokes.

as outlaw said. every jeep is different. but yours being a 95, you may not even need an sye. once the lift is on you'll have to drive it to find where the vibes are if any.

then flex it completely out to see how far the front drive shaft slips out.
tbo i never hear of anyone needing a rear drive shaft. that is just all about angle and vibes.

please some correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I have not done a lift myself on an xj yet and was just one of the things I was worried about.

Thanks guys! I will see how everything looks when the new springs come in and I get a chance to put them on, as well as flexed.
