Rear axle shim question
Forgive me if this sounds amateur, but I got some 3 degree shims just see if this fixes any vibes before I did a hack and tap. Would the "meat" of the shim go towards the front of the vehicle to rotate the axle back to the correct pinion angle? Thanks, I even drew a picture and both ways made sense at one point, hah.

Technically, without the SYE the shims will make your driveline vibes worse. Eventually, when you get the SYE installed, the meaty part of the shim goes in the back. Here is some good education on your situation:

ok idk how it would make your driveline vibes worse...im running a 4.5" lift with 6 degree shims and the stock drive shaft and it and the only time i fell a vibe is when i put the shinny padal to the floor lol and the thick end faces the rear

Meat in the rear. It might help, might not. But for sure it will not make it worse. That graph for a stock driveshaft is only true for a stock XJ. If you wanted to make your tcase angle equal to pinion angle then after lifting the Jeep you would have to put the shims backwards to lower the pinion! I would like to see what happens then. Not saying you might not need an SYE but if you dont want one , forget the graph, you have to point the pinion up.

Wouldnt having the thick side in the rear rotate the axle forward taking it farther out of line from the T-case?
Im not sure I have not done this, Im just trying to figure out the geometry
Never mind, the way the axle is attached to the spring it only makes sense if you put the thick part in the back it will push the back down therefore the front up. Doh!
