Default rear axle options?

My 29 spine 8.25 finally went out and Im wanting to get a salvaged complete axle but Im having trouble finding another 29 spine. I was wandering if there were any other options with little or no mods. That are comparable or stronger. Don't really Want to settle for a 35. I thought Maybe a 44 out of a Wagner? And How big of a difference is the 27 spline 8.25? All help appreciated

Vague, I know. How about total cost under 400, and I like the 8.8 swap but don't wanna wait for build parts to be shipped. Any direct bolt ins other than the 35?

I vote rebuild your 8.25.. more than strong enough for 31s. 8.8 is an overkill, you may gain strength but as I found out you loose enough ground clearance to make it a pain.

The 8.8 is an excellent swap but for 31s it isnt needed you can get a 27 spline 8.25 and swap shafts and carriers and make it a 29 spline the 8.25 can handle 35s also if you plan on going that big my 8.25 29 spline handles 35s no problem and since input disc brakes on it the truck stops on a dime do a disc brake swap while you get a new axle youll love it

Waggy 44 is not a bolt in.

The 44 put in some 87-89 xj's is the only direct bolt in 44

If your 29 spline is to far gone to make rebuilding an option. Pick up a good 27 spline axle for cheap, and install your 29 spline shafts, and the 29 spline carrier, and spiders.
Then you've got a 29 spline C/8.25.

IMO, sounds like a perfect opportunity to regear and rebuild that 8.25. if thats not in your budget right now, go with what rock toy said, assuming you can't find another 29 spline
