Default rear 4-link coils vs. coilovers

I will be getting the T&T rear 4-link in the next few months to go along with my front T&T LA. So should I run the normal TJ type coils like the kits intends? Or should I just run a set of coilovers? I already plan to cut the floor and run a 12''-14'' shock mounted on a cage.
But is there a real performance gain from using a coilover shock?

BTW, my jeep is being built to hopefully race in the Stock Mod class for KOH someday

Coilovers. They're tuneable, more predictable, and you don't have to worry about them falling out.

C/Os all the way.

Yea, I'll second that.

Coilovers or air shocks are the way to go.

The coil/shock combo is nice and works. But I'm finding myself wishing I would have went CO or air shocks right off the bat.

stock class? or modified?

V Suspension configuration must remain stock, as originally manufactured (meaning that leafsprings must remain leafsprings, coilsprings must remain as coilsprings, torsion-bars must remain as torsion-bars, etc.).

so unless they changed that rule.. you're limited to deavers. or you're entering modified class

a well setup quality coilover per corner is big bank. if you're asking if CO's are a performance gain then you should be sticking to leafs in the first place

you wont be able to run stock or stock mod with a rear four link IIRC.

Maybe I read the rulebook wrong but I thought in the mod class you could change the factory suspension setup to any design you desire.

And im not asking if coilovers are a performance gain over leafs, im not that dumb lol If I somehow find the right coil and get a nice triple bypass shock, the only plus side to coilovers is that the coils are always retained. unless im missing something?

You can also run dual rate springs with coilovers and you can adjust when the second rate comes in. There are also alot more coil spring rate options in a 2.5" or 3.0" coil compared to a stock coil.

If I wanted a couple dudes to think I was an idiot and think im a complete moron, I would have asked on Pirate4x4. So I've never dealt with the tuning and use of a coilover, doesn't mean I havent been trying to do research on them.
If youre not going to add some useful technical help, please leave the thread.

Yeah seriously. The idea of you spending $3000 (before bypasses) on a KOH ready coilover setup because "the coils are always retained" is pretty laughable

There's nothing wrong with a pair of deavers and king 2.5" shocks
