4.56 is considered the limit for a D30. This is where I stopped and I'm running 35's. The pinion is very small at 4.88's which can lead to issues when wheel'd.

For a factor of safety should I go with 4.27's? that would put me at a 3.62 equivalent.

You will be fine with a 4.56. As Jeepin aint EZ stated, the pinion really doesn't become smaller or sacrificial in strength until you get to a 4.88 ratio.
