RE 3.5" lift
You'd be lucky to get away with only a TC drop. You haven't completed your profile so I can't see what year you have. Older XJs are more forgiving with lifts - my 2000 vibed bad with the RE 3.5, even with a TC drop. I have a CV rear driveshaft, SYE, adjustable UCAs, and CADs to get everything vibe free. That is not always required. I also realllly don't like vibes - some people just live with them, especially mild front DS vibes.

The thing I see unmentioned a lot in these threads is even with a tcase drop you need to shim the rear appropriately. Ive run almost two years without a SYE at 4-5"and once I shimmed correctly there are no vibes. Is this ideal? No but it works and can serve just fine.
Do I want a SYE? Absolutely but eh it isnt in the budget yet.
