Getting ready to upgrade the d30 trying to decide between chromoly shafts or the rcv shafts. I'll be running a yukon zip locker and either 4.56 or 4.88 haven't decided. Opinions?
Ok here is the deal.. you have to ask yourself if you can justify spending 1k on axle shafts. You also need to think of what your plans are for your rig, and how you wheel.
If there is any remote chance that you will go bigger, or start trying harder stuff, just go ahead and build a d44. If you ever think you wil go bigger then 37's.. build a d60.

as much as id like to go full widths.. i doubt i will.. just dont have time for it.. dont wheel it enough anyway.. maybe 5 times/year.. so i wont be going any bigger than 35's.. mostly hill climbs/mud/ some slate rock.. little bit of everything but nothing extreme.. not too many rocks.. im pretty light on the skinny pedal most of the time unless i need some wheel spin..
Well speaking from experience.. a chromo d30 shafts break.. I have broken 2 different makes of chromo d30 shafts. I was on 35's when I broke my yukons.. and 33's when I broke my alloy Usa shafts. Unless you plan on upgrading to 30 spline inner and outers, I would buy some spare abs shafts and put the money that you would have spent on RCV's on another mod you need.
