Default Rc track bar probs.

My "New" RC track bar tie rod end came loose. Was locked on there very tightly.

Very scary as I noticed it on the highway.
Duddddda dudddda dudda periodically.

Gonna try a new castle nut and lock tite it on.

Anyone mod their end with a different bracket or joint? Seems if it was mounted on the side it would be better.

Is the mount hole tapered? Mine looked straight. The tie rod end shaft is tapered.

At first when I tightened it I couldn't even get the castle nut down to insert the cotter pin. So I took it off ran the nut up n down and put some leverage on the bar and reinstalled it, tightened nicely. Inserted the cotter pin. Done.

Now. Came loose. Wtf. Prob gonna get a new tre.

Pos.

should have got the other track bar that uses a heim joint instead of the tie rod end. you could always buy a heim joint and install it in the track bar and mount it to the old bracket on the frame.

Had mine for a week driving back and forth to work, 60 mile round trip. :gulp: Gonna drive my Toyota.

Does anyone know a heim joint part number?
Do local auto part chains carry them?

My XJ isn't a dd, so it can wait but I do not like having broken down vehicles around.

Thanks guys!

There's no reason to have to install the castle nut upside down...

I have the same tracbar on my baby Jeep and have no issue installing the cotter pin.

With the cotter pin correctly installed theres no way for the nut to back off.

The hole is tapered as long as you have the stock bracket. I'd guess you had it in a bind when you installed it.

I've looked. No one makes a tie rod end long enough to convert that track bar to a heim.

Just gonna get a new castle nut and cotter pin. Check out the hole. And reinstall with lock tite.

Should have grabbed a reamer from work but I was unsure if it was even tapered, doh. Oh well. More fun in the garage, at least we have nice weather here. Might be over 1 deg tonight! Awesome.
