Rattles near transfer case
I have a 2000 xj with 4-5"s of lift no sye, 31" tires. When I'm coasting I hear a rattle sound coming from what sounds like the tcase. It's an np231 with 148k on it. Also I have a loud clunk sound coming from the front near the trac bar and it goes away when I put it into 4hi.
I don't know if these sounds are related or not but they both are very loud when driving slow on bumpy roads. Totally fine on the highway.
Any input would be appreciated, just moved to boulder so if anyone near me can help I'll give you monies.

Check your tcase linkage for looseness ... I had the same issue, thought my front CV was about to explode it was so loud.
Pulled over checked under and noticed my linkage was worn out. The Z-bar body side bushing was completely shot. Used some twine to tied it all together and the rattle was completely gone.
Ordered the Boostwerks shift linkage kit just now to fix it.

It seems to be pretty tight so I'm not sure if that's it or not. Did your shift linkage fix yours?

Hey guys, I've got a question about my 2000 Cherokee Sport 4x4, 163,000 miles.
I installed a 2" lift and dropped the t-case about an inch. I get a solid clunk/knock (no rattling) the moment I accelerate or the moment I apply brakes; not while braking or while accelerating if that makes sense to you. When turning and it's a little bumpy, the knocking happens with every bump. Any suggestions?
