Ditto, actually my cherokee from factory had fiberglass material unde neath parts of the carpet. Guess where I have rust holes? Ive got rust holes right where the fiberglass material was and it was still wet when I pulled it out. Glad I caught it when I did or else I might end up with a magic disappearing floor. So in short if you plan on offroading it or it has leaks, I wouldnt even consider any insulation material.

Closed Cell Foam and Mass Loaded Vinyl do not retain water and combined are the most effective method of reducing noise.

My friend has his 99 completely dynamatted by a car audio shop, it is impressive. Almost no road noise inside. Super expensive but I honestly think its worth it

Actually it's jute. That stuff almost never dries once wet.

Bed liner has really helped with reducing road noise. Plus it's water proof. I would imagine carpet over top would reduce road noise further.

Having replaced all window seals and door seals on my jeep, it got queiter with each one, but still has wind noise, most will have some wind noise from the windshield. does not leak water but does make wind noise. reading a jeep magazine that said this is mainly caused by the unibody design letting the body flex and tends to make all the windsheild seals crack and leak after awhile.

Allot of audio shops and google dynomat tests etc, you will find roofing material is very common, self-adhered rubberized asphalt is very commonly used
