quick release doors?
well ive been doin some contemplating and some thinking and ive come to a conclusion that might be either awesome or stupid.
so lets see if i can translate my mental image into understandable words to get some feedback
i have a 2000 xj with the new style door hinges.
well ive seen how the pre 97 models are cut but none of the 97+
the hinge that bolts onto the door, if i cut the bottom of that but leave the pin coming straight down on both the top and bottom hinges. (cutting the bottom bracket only) in theory i should be able to lift the door right off but keep tha same door pins.
if im not too clear on my explaination please tell me which part. id have pics but im on my playstation right now and my comp wont upload pics cuz its stupid.

Dude, you sound pretty clear to me. I got lucky, and bought a 97'... and
of course i have the older hinges. but, i've seen it done the same way on a new model cherokee. you just have to trim the weird shaped bracket down with a grinder or something.
but, yes it will work.
i have the kit for mine. they slide on and off like a wrangler.
be careful with the metal pins inside the door... if you bend
them and break them.. sometimes they will be stuck inside the door hinge.. and/or
break to short where you can slide the door on anymore.
any questions, pm me.
btw, where abouts in NC are you located?

You mean like this (don't mind the lack of paint on bare metal yet) lol:
Although instead of the factory pin, those are 5/16" bolts..

What my buddy did was removed the pins and replaced them with the tractor type pins (the ones that slip into the hole and then have a clip that is attached to the top and clips around the bottom to keep it in, if you know what I'm talking about...). When he wants to remove the doors, he disconnects the wiring, pulls both of those pins and just slips the door off.

i gotcha, i will try to upload pics to be clear.
but i don't have much sagging, it did at first..
but you just have to align the doors right. and
mess with it.
door seals no problems, and no rattling.
BE CAREFUL WITH THE DOOR PINS THOUGH!
THEY CAN BEND AND SNAP EASILY.
Someone stepped on the door hinge, when i was
laying them down & it happened to my drive side door.
and it's not going on correctly.

There is some up and door play in the door (expected as half the hinge is missing), but some of my hinge bushings were pretty bad, so it already had some play. So far I've adjusted the hinges to where the door opens and closes like normal, not dropping/sagging, lines up better than before, and seals perfectly fine. Been off-roading a few times and don't notice any rattling (atleast no more than before.. it is a Jeep lol).
This is the driver's side lined up as best as I cared to haha:
The rear doors should be done soon! (along with cut quarters and weld-in rocker sliders.. dang rust)
*Also, the new pins/bolts on mine seem pretty sturdy as putting the doors back on in the dark by yourself involves some banging around.

after you cut the bottom part of the hinge do you just hammer the bottom part off of the pin? or try to cut around the pin?

As far as I know the pin is pressed on both sides, and so you have to cut the pin itself in half then pry/hit them out of the hinge.. atleast that's how I read to do it.
