Question about 6.5" RC long arm kit
I bought the 4.5" kit with new leaf packs. I also have lift shackles and 2" spacers on top of the 4.5 long arm.
1. Does anybody who is running the 6.5 kit know what their upper and lower arm lengths are set too? It would save me alot of guess work.
2. I'm also going to be ordering my sye on monday, but i'm not sure which brand I should order. And since funds are tight, would it be alright if I pulled my front drive shaft and ran it in the back for about 3 weeks or so?
3. And I am having a little trouble with my track bar. Should the heim joint be bolted to the axle or body end? And it seems like my track bar is a little too short. Do they send a different length track bar with the 6.5 kit? How far in should it be threaded?

shouldnt have to adjust ur arms too much. as far as i know. rugged ridge is a good brand, might look into rough country sye. they are havin pretty nice sales right now and have been for a while. ur track bar should have a rubber bushin at the axle. and if u got a 6.5 lift. u should consider upgrading to a adjustable track bar if it seems to short. as for 4.5 lift. dont need a new adjustable track bar. u should just relocate ur axle end of ur track bar towards the driver side 3/4 of a inch. and it takes a 7/16 hole for clearance of the bolt. and bolt her in with flag nut.

Well I bought the 4.5 inch long arm kit. But I am using 2 inch spacers to bump it up to 6.5
The kit came with an adj track bar and the instructions say to run the rubber at body and heim at axle. Should I try rubber at axle?
And should I use the arm settings that the instructions say to use for 4.5" even though I'm at 6.5"

Well for 6.5" of lift the kit requires 15 1/4" for uppers and 29 3/4" I believe for the lowers. If you check the .PDF file on their site for the 6.5" lift it will tell you. Here http://roughcountry.com/install/PERF1689.pdf.
Adjusting the lowers will only push the axle further or closer away from the truck. The uppers is what controls all the caster and pinion angle. I am having problems with my truck after my install and changed a whole bunch of stuff at once (steering pull) but I adjusted my uppers to like 15 1/8 - 15 1/6" For more caster, it allows easier steering wheel return and easier steering. I didnt get any front shaft vibes either.
Just a thought

So you left your lowers at the recommended 29 3/4? Would it be better to lengthen them until the wheel base length was back closer to stock?

I set mine out at 31 and 3/4 but the springs are still a little bent. I think I'll go ahead and stretch them a bit more. Would it be alright if I pulled my front drive shaft and ran it in the back when I get my sye?

2. I actually am not running a SYE on my Jeep. You might want to install your lift and see what happens. I was EXTREMELY surprised when i installed the kit and the vibrations were minimal. I get a little vibration between 30 and 40 MPH and that's it. Some rear angled shims would probably help just fine for this. Just some FYI this could save you a good chunk of change.
3. As far as i know the track bars are the same for the 4.5" kit and the 6.5" kit. Call RC they are "somewhat" helpful. I will go home tonight and measure mine for you and take a picture so you can see.
Hope that helps
Will

I would really apreciate the track bar help. I'm going to go ahead and lengthen my lowers out to straighten the springs.
I was really surprised too at the fact that I didn't have any vibes. I've only had it up to about 50 but still no vibes.
Do you have trouble with your drag link hitting your sway bar mount when you turn right?
