Putco H4 harness upgrade problem
Installed a set of new E-code Autopal lamps today along with a harness upgrade to make up for the undersized stock wiring. Bought this Putco brand harness kit http://www.eautoworks.com/product-eA...com-189849.htm that was suggested by some other XJ users. After installation, discovered that the passenger lamp is shining high-beam on low switch and low-beam on high switch, drivers side bulb is just barely glowing at all so clearly all the juice is being drawn on the first lamp and not getting to the drivers side lamp.
Does anyone else have experience with this Putco harness kit or know what is screwed up? I have checked the DYI diagrams and being that this is a plug and play kit there is no way that the wires are connected wrong...

Thanks for the input. Solved both of my problems separately. I didn't have the issue of the highs staying on after switching back to low, my high/low beams were just reversed and I pulled the fuse block for the fog lights (stock fogs) which corrected that problem. This kills the fogs, but my headlights operate correctly now--ultimately I'll look for a fix for the fog and headlight joint operation.
Turns out, closer9 that you were right on with the dark drivers side lamp. There are separate grounds for each lamp, which we connected to the frame under the lip of the hood, so I took the bolt off and sanded the surface down. After putting everything back on the drivers lamp was full brightness.
The autopal e-code lights and the upgraded harness are a HUUUUGE improvement over the stock wagners. The bright white pattern is incredible with basic 55W bulbs and got them working just in time for the blizzard that came through this week.

I had a similar issue after i put mine in yesterday. Low beam is fine but when I turn the hi beams on they wont shut off. I have to turn the headlights off completely in order to get the low beams back on. I think mine is a relay issue. They are the first things I will be replacing.
Same thing happened to me today.. don't know what to do. I don't have stock fog lights either

Same thing happened to me, and I read your suggestion about removing the fog light relay next to the A/C Clutch relay, and my Rampage Housings with the H4 harness finally work in high and low beam perfectly!
