Would it be possible to replace the stock hinges on my 99 to those of a pre-97?

I'd like to go doorless but it's so much simpler on the early xj's with the old hinge.

pretty sure that you cannot because

1) they attach in a different way
2) hinge design is different

don't quote me on that though

 

oh you could... but it would be a complete waste of time.... think about it.... either you modify your newer style hinge's to run doorless.....

OR

you cut them off completely.... Now there's no turning back.... then get a decent set of new hinges... measure, test fit, tach em in, re- measure, double check that they're square, test fit, Hope to GOD they are square cuz if they're not they'll wear out and you'll get a saggin door, then weld them in permanent, coat em with paint/bed liner/ or other preffered source of rust preventative...

THEN

You can start modify your New-Old style hinges to run doorless

 

you can modify either hinge to run doorless. there is write up's on both.

but it is not worth your time to change them
