Power Windows & Mirror Controls Not Working. Help!
Let me preface by saying that I'm new to the XJ cult...I mean community. I bought a '97 this week and I'm pretty excited. I've been going through and replacing parts as needed and making it mine.
It only has ONE major issue...
At first, I thought it was just that the driver side window would not go down. A mechanic told me pretty emphatically that it was the regulator. So, I replaced that and it still didn't work.
Then today while trouble shooting, I learned some other key factors.
- The switch allows me to control the other windows (pass. front & rear, driver side rear) but not the driver.
- The window controls on all the other individual doors (pass. front & rear, driver side rear) do not work.
- The mirror controls on the driver side switch do not work.
- Power locks work fine on all doors.
The only thing left I think is fuse related (ordered the 30A fuse replacement). Or maybe switch related? I have come to the community for knowledge.
Thank you!

More than likely it is your driver door switches, the whole assy or the doors wiring harness.
You could diagnose this by testing all the components individually with a power probe. If all the windows work and door locks work with direct power vs going through your switches/harness then components are fine.
The 97+ driver master switch setup is notorious for being problematic. You should check the wiring harness that passes through the flex tube near the kick panel. It's very common for the wiring to become freyed or split from routing/length.
