Just curious if anyone else has ever thought about doin this. Power steering fluid gets pretty hot. Can go up to 300+. I was thinking about a transmission cooler and plumbing it in. Then thought he’ll my radiator has transmission ports why not use that? All my Jeeps are sticks so it’s not used. Just curious if anyone can poke holes in this idea. Not to the power steering part of my builds but mind is always turning, got at least another year on em. What do you think?
I don't see why it wouldn't. You'd just need to route the low-pressure return hose through the cooler and then back to the PS reservoir. I'd recommend you wire up a e-fan override switch so you can run the aux fan when needed (off-roading, etc.) and keep the cool side of the radiator cooler, since that's where the factory cooler is.
Really? Never seen it before, but I’ve only played with old chevys fords few Pontiacs and 2 dodges. I’m a babe in the woods on Jeeps! I am so very thankful to all you guys on here. If it wasn’t for you guys I’d still be standing around thumpin my nuts!
I would say that nearly every modern vehicle had some sort of power steering cooler. Some just run the steel return line near the inside of the bumper in a long narrow "u". My Impalas do that but have wild cooling fins. I think you have a great idea to insert some sort of cooler element. I would ad a Magnafilter too.
