Tire carrier, behind the rear seat, under the bench seat, on a roof rack.
Those are the normal locations

Sorry no pictures, jeep in a different province at the moment. but if you are handy with welder and don't mind cutting a little bit of carpet, the 48" jack fits very nicely on top of the rear wheel well right behind the seat. Its nice because its off the floor and I have a pin securing it in place so it doesn't bounce.

Of course a picture is worth a thousand words but it was a U shape bracket for the top end of the jack and a smaller u shape the other way for the base. the base one came in at a bit of an angle following the base so it would only come out if the top end was lifted first which had a quick release pin.

I had it outside for years but every time I used it, it needed cleaning from mud and other road sh_T. It just wouldn't work properly going down.

NOw with the new winch, I haven't had to use it since so it will stay there for a long time just in case. it got me out wayyyyyy to many times to leave behind.

Great little project of fabricating to learn. Its not a critical component so even if its not perfect its ok.

This is not mine but I found this on Google images under "high lift jack mounts"
Its pretty close to what I did.

Some people put them on their hoods or bumpers. I don't have one but if you search on Google you will find plenty of examples.

Mine is just thrown in the hatch along with all the other stuff I haul around all the time. Its going on the roof rack once I get around to building one.

Does the seat still fit with the jack there?

I did have to beat a small flat spot in to the tunnel, but it was mainly for the two bolts I use to mount the hi lift down. I used nuts to secure the bolts in place and used two wing nuts to hold down the hi lift. I also removed the base due to lack of room, its easily removed and reinstalled. The seat does still latch properly though you do have to use a little more muscle when latching it. No big deal though. Plus, there is still plenty room for a tow strap, small shovel and a couple other small things.
