Not tryin to be a smart*** but look at his name he might not know. We all didn't wake up one day and know everything. The motor mounts are what attaches your motor to your frame and have a bushing in them to isolate engine vibrations from the rest of the vehicle. When they go bad they can allow the bolt that goes through them to hit the metal bracket that goes around the bushing. The transmission bushing is between your transmission and the mount that it sits on.

So i went to look for them and i saw one on the passenger side that seemed to look okay but i got to the drivers side and it definetly looks messed up. Is this an easy fix? Any info would be great, never messed around with motor mounts. thanks guys!

Your mount is definitely shot but you still might have the same problem after you fix the mount. You said the noise only happen in four wheel drive. My bets on the chain in the T case, I am doing my friends now. Pull the front diff cover off and check your side and spider gear first.

I had a motor mount go at one point and the only time it would pop was in 4wd My best explanation would be that the added torque 4wd puts on the drive train would allow the mount to give where regular driving wouldnt

as far as replacing the mount goes put a floor jack under the motor (I use a 2x4 or any block of wood between the motor and jack so I dont mess up my oil pan) and use the jack to take the weight off the mounts and then unbolt the mount and replace with the new one

Okay awesome thanks! Someone mentioned doing the passenger side too, is it a need? It looks fine. I just heard the passenger side was a PITA.

yeah if you haven't already done it i would replace both because typically when you replace one side it will cause the other side to fail shortly after because it will be weaker than the other .... Remember to only do one side at a time if you do it the way I said early so that you don't have all the weight of the engine sitting on the oil pan

You want to do both motor mounts and the transmission mounts at the same time, replacing one or two but not all is a Band-Aid to a worse situation. Here's my old motor mount, note it should be one solid piece of rubber with a tube in it

And my tranny mount

There's a good video on youtube for replacing them.
I've got a popping in 4wd as well but I have bigger 2wd issues to worry about before it sees dirt again...
