PLEASE HELP! Ford Taurus Fan Install
Okay, I have been searching for the better part of a week trying to figure out how to wire my Ford Taurus fan up.
I need it broken down as simply as you can, like crayons and construction paper.
I want the fan wired up so the low kicks on automatically with the stock electric fan. And I want the high controlled with a switch in the cab, an ON-OFF-ON switch so that I can kill the fan entirely if I do a water crossing.
The issue I'm having is finding a relay with a high enough Amperage to handle it. I want to be able to just go to the parts store and pick it up. I already purchased 8g wire, a 30am ON-OFF-ON switch and some shrink wrap but I don't know what relays to use.
I've read go-jeep's and about a dozen other write ups but I don't know what to use and I'm feeling lost haha
Also I want to steer clear of a solenoid because I have heard they aren't meant for continuous use.
If I could get a shopping list, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Here is a picture of the Hayden electric fan controller that I'm using. I got it from Amazon for less than 40 bucks and it works awesome. It comes on with temperature, or when the A/C kicks on, or if I manually switch it on. It came with easy to follow instructions and is adjustable. It's the black box on top of the fan. It has worked flawlessly for a year and a half now.

Here is what I used. Once the low is on the high does not draw that much amperage since the fan is already turning. It's not starting from a dead stop.

The Haden controller works great. My dads had the very same one on his street rod for years. Thousands of miles, never an issue. They have a contoller that also wires to the a/c switch for high speed. The Volvo set up seems to take ALOT of parts, wiring and "engineering".

Subbed, picked up a Volvo fan I'm going to swap in soon, and was curious about controllers. And the high amps is only on startup, once running it drops down considerably.
Also have a Taurus fan I picked up and am not going to use if anyone wants it.

well I know this post is over a year old, but since someone else brought back I may as well ask. I am doing almost he exact same thing as this but, I was wondering what you mean by switches of your choice connecting the thermo switch to the yellow trigger wires, I have mine soldered together directly, I don't see why switches are needed (?) none of it is hooked up or tested yet.

using the volvo relay is definatly the best way to wire it, if i were you i would also use the volvo fan, the motor is the exact same as the taurus fan except it can be adapted to the stock xj shroud
heres some info on how i did mine, its covered over about 3 pages i think
