But if the bushings aren't worn out or the cam sensor **** the bed, why bother? These aren't early 70s small block Chevys..........

Hmmm Good point. I was just showing OP that they do not have to pay the 550.00 they were quoted

+1... the stock ignition components are not a bottleneck on these jeeps.. The injectors help it to run "better"

but a CAI.. some overpriced ignition components.. fuel injectors.. you are still really stock... and im not hating.. dont get me wrong

just want to help you spend money better elsewhere

theres play in the distributor itself. also, the idle is off and at sometimes rough and stalls. I had a friend whos been an ASE mechanic for 20 years look at it and he said to start there with a new one(he'll help me install).

i wanted a performance(just as ive found mopar stock stuff to be meh) but im slowly realizing that its not possible for the 4.0. cant really change the thread title at this juncture

I had a rough idle and tip in hesitation when my distributor bushing went bad. Runs like a champ after replacing it.

I found a reman one at Advanced Auto and used a 40%off online coupon for it. When I got it it was a Cardone reman. $72.00 for the distributor after core and $5.00 for the distributor gasket.

am I going to be the first one to say, pull one from a junkyard? It'll be real cheap, and a good chance it works fine!

So you carry redundant everything? Must be real easy to get bogged down...

Are you sure the slop is in the distributor and not the timing chain?

Just an FYI rough idle and stalling is more likely lack of fuel than ignition. Do you own a scanner that can view/capture live data?

yea, im a fire fighter. my engineer/wrenchin' buddy was a mechanic for 20 years so we got everything short of a high lift and air tools. he tested all the plugs and then we fooled around with the live scan. he said we'd start there and then go from there
