I am looking to replace the steering setup on my 90 XJ w/ 5" of lift as the stock setup is worn out. I found a good write up by gojeep on his website. I would like to do it like this for a couple reasons. By using the stock LHD drag link as the driver side tie rod I shouldn't have clearance issues to the sway bar mount. I do not want to use the inverted T setup as I daily drive this Jeep and do not want to deal with a possible dead spot. Helms are out of the question, not legal on steering in VA. I don't want to go to the expense or hassle of a WJ knuckle swap, my brakes are good.
Questions:
I am having trouble locating a RHD drag link for my 90 for use as the drag link mounted to the top of the knuckle. I found the 91+ RHD drag link. What is the difference between the two? Does anyone have a source for the 90 RHD drag link?
I found some chatter on the inter webs about the GoFerIt inserts crumbling. Is that due to improper welding technique or sloppy fit up to the knuckle? Or is the insert a weak design? If so, is there a better design out there? I have a spare set of knuckles, so I plan to swap them in after being modified. I work in fabrication, so proper machining and welding will not be an issue. Is there a better designed insert available? I would prefer to retain my cotter pins rather than using a lock nut like GoFerIt supplies on their site. I THINK cotter pins are required in VA, will have to research that further.
Thanks for the input. I know steering is a subject well discussed, but I was unable to find much information on go.jeep's setup.

You could try using the Teraflex high steer knuckle, ream it to fit Chevy tie rod ends and then run custom steering with one ton chevy tie rod ends. That way there's no inverted t and you don't need inserts plus it's alot stronger than stock TREs, only downside would be price
