4.0 with manual transmission have axles with 3.07

 

Cheap/easy gear upgrades for your manual is find an auto with an 8.25 and front d30 and just swap them in. You get 3.55s that way. Or you could (try to) find an xj with the factory towing option that has 4.10 gears. I don't remember the year range on those though.

 

4.10's were found only behind 4 cylinders and 5 speed manual transmissions

 

Crud, I didn't realize the stuff I was reading on gearing was for automatics, you all saved me a bunch of work!

I thought I had the 'tow package' since I have a factory trailer hitch (I think), didn't realize the 4.0 manuals were all 3.07...

 

If you can find a 4 cylinder with the AW4 trans, it will have 4.56 gears........but they are very very rare.....I've seen one, and it was a 2 door.

 

Factory tow package and dealer/after market hitches can throw you off.To know for sure you can get a build sheet for your jeep https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/get...-sheet-125813/ if its on the build sheet then its factory if not its a add on later on.
