The only thing I would consider an OME kit for would be my GC and a small lift.
I have honestly considered that, but I'm not trying to go too high. Also I will probably end up spending less on the OME kit that fits my needs than I would on a RE 3.5" with bilsteins.

We'll see what happens. Plan on getting in contact with DPG tomorrow to get an idea on price for what I need/want.
That would be a quality kit. I was looking hard at that kit before I purchased a Metalcloak/OME lift. OME and JKS are both high quality components. You might also look at mixing it up with OME springs, Bilstein shocks, Currie arms. I was also considering that route as well.

Metalcloak looks like a great complete kit, and I've been strongly considering that as well. I was unfortunately unable to contact DPG yesterday as I was ridiculously busy. I'm thinking with what I do and don't need with the Ultimate 3.5" OME kit, that I can be right around $1,200 and save $500 to put towards wheels and tires, and still have a quality lift.

If anyone is curious, if you go the the XJ Lift/Tire Setup thread, and search OME, one guy has the 3.5" OME kit, and it looks great!

"Bump"

Just curious if anyone else has any experience with OME? Mainly 3 to 4 inches.

I've got a mostly OME lift kit, CS033RA leaf springs (the stiffer ones) and am very happy with them. They've settled to about 4" and ride awesome, firm but not harsh, and get even better with people/gear in the back. OME says you can remove a leaf (they specify which one) if you want a little less lift and a softer ride (leaves are shipped 5+1 overload).

My biggest issue with the leafs is that they don't seem to flex that well (I still have stock shackles, all clamps, and overloads on); however, it's a price I'm willing to pay being that the Jeep is still my daily.

I've got the Nitrocharger Sport long shocks on all four corners, am very happy with those as well. Seem to respond excellent to washboard and other inclement surface conditions. Only issue with them is the paint, which chips very easily.

When I was looking at kits (early last year), OME only had one spring for the XJ which gave 2", and DPG's solution was those springs with spacers, which I wasn't particularly interested in, so I went with the RE 3.5" springs. I am happy with those as well, they left me with 4" lift with an offroad bumper. Pleased with the ride they give, I don't find them overly stiff as Salad mentioned, I think the 260# rating for the 3.5" springs floating around the internet is a typo, considering that RE's taller springs are around the 160-180# rating, comparable to most other lift springs on the market.

Overall, these components coupled with other quality parts such as bushings and front end components lead to a really good all-around lift setup IMO. Be prepared to dump that wallet upside down though, it gets pricey fast.

Appreciate the info Evsta! I'm pretty prepared to drop the coin. I want to make sure it's done right the first time around. I would go with their full blown 2" kit, but 2" just isn't going to cut it for me. It's gotta be at least 3"... possibly 4" or anywhere in between. I understand coils and leaf packs can settle, but I worry about the possible 5" I could get out of an RE kit.

Also, I think your RE springs ride nice (not so stiff) because you have the bumper up front. Just my thoughts, since I've never run a lift, but it makes since.

I have the 3.5" DPG ultimate OME hybrid kit. I got it with the 4.5" leaf pack and removed a leaf cuz the 3.5s were on back order. The only negative thing I can say is that the leaf pack is short causing a bad shackle angle so I'd suggest shackle relocation brackets also.

Only worked on removing the rear but didn't break a bolt. Knock on wood but got it all off easily. These were the only other throw away parts withe the opg off-road kit

Enjoying the thread, as I've been thinking of OME 2.5" lift and 30" tires. I may hate to see the 20mpg go away, however. Please keep the pix and the process documented. Thanks!

I just did a 500 mile trip in my XJ with 3.5" lift with 33x12.5 A/Ts. I averaged 17.5-18 mpg. Not bad IMO.

Default Little update...

Happy Holidays everyone!

I unfortunately ran into a series of $hitty personal events that has put this on the back burner for a little bit.

Still gotta talk with Dirk over at DPG, but am leaning towards the 3.5" Utlimate OME lift. Hope to get him on the phone this coming Monday or Tuesday and get this figured out.

I'll be sure to keep you guys posted. Please continue with the input, didn't expect this thread to last long.
