Old Man Emu Lift Kits
#182
I actually ordered the 1.5 kit from Quadratec. Did speak to Dirk and he was as awesome as advertised. I just couldn't justify 1600 for that 2.5 kit.
Just trying to get a little more rubber under her so she'll handle the beach better. Hoping to get 255 or 265's under her. We'll see soon. Just wondering if I need to take a leaf out or not. No instructions with the kit, but from the ARB site it looks like I might. What do you guys think?

cs033rb leafs are supposed to be 3.5" full--remove one leaf for 2.5"
I'm curious to see how even the lift is front to back with the 2930 coils. did they give you a spacer?
could you measure the shocks before installing them? I am trying to put together some more info. thanks

No spacers, and I ordered u-bolts and bushing separate. Guess I am pulling a leaf out, or maybe see how it looks and maybe add coil spacers up front? Trying to stay away from SYE issues. Back in the day ( last century) I had a 98 Sport ( with 5 speed, what a set up) and I ran 9.50x15's with no lift and no problems. So I think with 1.5 I can get enough rubber under her to handle the beach.

Here is my 01 stock with 30x9.5r15 and lifted with 3.5" Metalcloak coils and CS033RB leafs with 1 removed. You can tell it sits lower in the back. I did that on purpose, so later I can install relo brackets and shackles to level it out.

Ok, so then i will probably go that route then. I just noticed the jeep has a very "floaty" feel to it now and was thinking the springs would change that.

It is in the shop now, I will get in in the next day or so. I will post results ( and pics if I can figure that out). I told him to to take his time and fit it in when he can.

I said O would post the results from my install. I only have the rear complete right now. Using the 2.5" OME leafs (3.5" with 1 leaf removed) I'm at 3.25" above my saggy old stock leafs. I posted pics in my build thread, so I'll hold off posting them here until it's all done.
Power transfer to the rear wheels is incredibly improved over the old stuff.
I expect the leafs to settle closer to 2.75 to 3".
Also, my XJ is a 2000 with AW4 and NP242. I've gone up to 70mph and not noticed vibrations. Just my experience so far.

Ok, got the lift installed. Had the usual issues ( broken rear shock bolt, not enough PB Blaster, etc.) but the wait was worth it. The ride is so much better than stock it is unbelievable. Looks like I got about 2 1/2 over how it sat pre-lift. Maybe 2 3/4 in rear. Still have my 225/75/R16's on. Getting new tires next week. I will post before and after pics with old tires, and pics with the new tires once I get them. ( got to figure out how to upload pics first).
I was looking for no more than 3 inches of lift, and hope to put 245's or 265's if they fit. Very happy with how it turned out, wasn't looking for a rock climber, just a litte more lift and an upgrade from my worn-out leafs and springs. Mission accomplished.
