Default Offset backspacing questions

Looking for new wheels and tires to put on once my lift comes in. What I am looking for is as wide as stance as possible. I'm trying to get the tires out of the fender wells as much as possible. Someone recommended a wheel with a -88 offset. He did not mention back spacing. Has anyone ran a wheel with that high of a negative backspacing and maybe have pictures?

These are -46 or 3.6 in back space and they spick out quite a bit and remember with the less back spacing you have the more strain it puts on ball joints and such.

want the tires to stick out as far as possible.. why? the farther out they are the worse your steering is and front end wear increases. but if you're going for "that look" go with some 15x10's

3.5" or 4" BS is fine

Here's a better pic and the farther they stick out they will be farther forward and backward they will be when you are turning getting into your front fender and cab

Sorry I didn't mean negative backspacing I meant negative offset. Here's a photo of an example of what I'm shooting for. Now I believe that this particular vehicle is running full width axles. What I am wondering is can you get the same effect with the negative offset. It is personal preference on how I want my jeep to sit. I do plan on upgrading steering also.

some states that would get pulled over in second, im in md. no part of the tread can extend past the body or flare. might want to check your laws where you live , unless this is a offroad only ride.

75% offroad lol. I'm not sure the laws but the officers are very relaxed with off-roaders here. As long as your not doing something stupid and or dangerous to others they look past all the modifications. My brother drives his 74 CJ around all the time

And I dont know if they even make rims with that little of back space and if they dont you can add wheel spacers to the back spaced rims. But think of your ball joints as a head of a stubby ratchet if you try to turn something really tight with a short handle you cant very much pressure on it (that would be your stock rims not much stress on things) now if you slap a 3 foot cheater bar on it you will turn that same force with alot less effort. ( that less effort to turn a bolt is nice for that such thing. But for ball joints and steering components that extra leverage wears things out and breaks things easier)

no. your brother has that CJ and couldn't tell you that this much offset on XJ axles is a bad idea? you're gonna have to look just like everyone else rolling on some 4" back space wheels. here's as close as you're gonna get.

15x10's

ok I tried to find the pic I had in mind but can't.

Looks like I'll have to wait for the axle swap to get the look I want lol and this what mine looks like now.
