Why not just fix your stock linkage its easy it maybe a little complicated but if you look at it and think about its an easy setup

Does this mod work for the np242? My jeep feels like its stuck in 4hi

ive also done the solid linkage conversion, the shifting in the tcase is much firmer than the stock setup.

Like i stated before, My linkage is extremely rusty and is bent from when my old Tcase blew up. There is no fixing my current linkage, and like all of the OP have said, the stock linkage is crap.

Well, I have started gathering parts to put together a linkage modeled off of the link on page 1...

It's not nearly as easy for me to find the stuff that I need here in Nashville for some reason, but I have the rod ends and hardware for mounting. Still need to find a new bracket for the tcase and modify my stock shifter bracket. My new welder will be here next weekend so hopefully I can get going by then. I'll update as it get going and do a write up in the write up section.

any idea when those linkage kits will be available and for how much??

just got a great jeep today to daily cause my other is gettin too built, but it has this linkage problem and after figuring out what i need to do, id rather buy the kit than have to find a blazer link.

Ill buy one the second you make them available

Yes. This linkage will work with the 242. And I'm looking at the kit being available in about a week for around 50 bucks. In working on trying to find a supplier for the parts where I can get a good deal for buying a bigger quantity.

As for cable shifters, a billiondy people use them, they shift fine as long as you make everything solid enough and don't cheap out on the cables.

I'm going to be running 3 with my new setup. I would do mechanical linkage If It was easy, but its a pretty custom application and cable shifters just make it much easier to set up.

What do you mean you had to "lengthen the lever at the body side about 3/4?" any pictures?

I hate to bring up a few months old thread but Lead Foot did you ever get a linkage kit thrown together for sale? I am interested as my jeep keeps popping out of 4hi and i dont want to deal with a rusty stock linkage setup.
