Noob Lift Kit Question
Is this a trusted brand for a 3" Lift? I need a kit w/ replacement leafs because my stock ones are sagging.http://www.jcwhitney.com/lift-kits/p...d=d1163y1998j1
Does anyone have any other cheaper or better recommendations?

Never mind what I said first lol.
You might save money by piecing one together instead of buying a kit. If you don't save you'll end up with a MUCH better lift overall.
Find Old Man Emu leaf packs on Quadratec. They are rumored to be the best riding springs you can get and really aren't insanely expensive for just the packs. Choose light, medium or heavy duty depending on your wheeling and typical loads or towing. Don't forget you'll need new bushings.

Also, would AAL be acceptable or would that be like putting a BAND-AID on a gunshot wound?
Edit: http://www.quadratec.com/products/76017_812.htm another option?

I'm not an expert, but the consensus is that AALs are only good if you have a healthy spring pack. Even then, you have a stiff new spring with a harsh arc to it that can roughen up your ride if the other springs don't "agree" with it.
If your leaves are already sagging then you should avoid AALs. There is nothing better than a fresh new leaf pack. Your other option would be to make a bastard pack from S10, Dakota or another XJ leaf pack from a junkyard.

i was on the wall about aal too. Rememberthealamo is correct. aal are only as good as your stock leafs. what was the deciding factor for me?
if you are taking the packs out, it would be alot quicker to just install new ones instead of the added time it takes to take yours apart then reasemble them. the money you save is spent on the time it takes you to do an aal. jmo.
i went with new packs and new leaf bolts too. but do what you want. its ur rig and money.
good luck.

AAL is gonna ride like crap. really the only leaves that will ride well are bds, zone, ome. i have seen pro comp 2.5 rear leaf packs for really cheap. doubt that they will ride very well though. i will say that for a 3 in lift i would recommend u have an adjustable track bar. otherwise your driver side tire is gonna stick out funny.
