Hang on a sec man, you might be making more work for yourself than necessary. If you're going to run 33's, the axles you already have might be more than fine.
You may have the chrysler 8.25 axle in it and since it's a 2000, it's the stronger 29 spline version which is about as strong as a dana44. It has 3" axle tubes, an 8.25" ring gear (that's about a half inch smaller ring gear than the 8.8), and the axleshafts are thicker than any of the other rear axles that came in the XJ with the exception of the Dana44.
I had 33" mud tires on my XJ with a HP dana 30 and 29 spline chrysler 8.25 with limited slip running 3.55 gear ratio front and rear. It was a bit of a dog on the street in the acceleration department, but it would climb anything and the only thing I ever broke was u-joints on the driveshaft.
Run what you have first, if it breaks, then worry about upgrading.
