Default NITRO Chromo Shafts Anyone?

Interested if anyone is running these chromoly shafts in a Dana 30 setup and what wheel/tire/locker setup you are currently running? How are they holding up, have you broken any and how hard are you riding?

I ran NITRO's dana 44 chromo setup some years back for a few years before selling the rig and I have no complaints. Now that I'm not riding as much its hard to have a dedicated trail rig hints not swapping to a 44 or 60 front end.

I'm thinking of shooting for a trussed 30, lock right, chromo's and 35 to 36" tires. Crazy? Maybe. But I'm gonna give it a go anyways and see how it goes.

Chromos and trussed Dana 30 on 35" tires would be "ok". A built Dana 30 is at its limit with 35s

I'm running 35" tires on my stock D30 but hell I'm "Old and Slow" go easy on the skinny peddle, I have a winch if needed. The HPD30 has a Detroit Locker in it and I want the axles to be the weak point as far as breakage, cheap and easy to replace on the trail if needed. Same for the stock Chy 8.25 in the rear, no problems in several years with either one.

anything stamped (yes stamped!) 4130 or 4340 is what you want if you're shopping for chromolly. brand doesn't really matter beyond that point unless a warranty is involved.

the weak point on your setup will be the cross pin going through your lockright. I highly recommend upgrading to a titanium cross pin
