Default newb budget lift question.

Hey guys.

My question here is WILL THIS WORK.

I wanna do a very modest 2 inch lift on my XJ. Ive been doing a little searching online and i believe i can do it with a 2 inch spring spacer in the front and a 2 inch lift shackle in the rear. Is this true? I did some reading on here and according to you guys (the masters) i can do a 2 inch lift and still retain all my stock shocks and brake lines and other suspension.

Is this true?

It is, for the most part.

If you wheel and disconnect your sway bars, heavy articulation(flexing) can reach the limits of your brake lines. Fortunately, you'll also Max out your stock shocks before risking damage to the lines.

Sway bars connected, you'll be fine.

Even a 2" lift will pull your steering off center(steering wheel no longer straight). This can be adjusted out at the drag link rod end, at the pitman arm. This will also keep your steering box on center when driving straight.

I've used this kit more than once, had very good luck with it.

One thing to keep in mind " You get what you pay for" and sometimes even less.

Exactly, I bend wrench for a living, I can't stand **** parts. This kit is great for the coin. Beefy shackles that actually fit properly and have provisions for zerk fittings, and the pucks are sturdy and slip into place fairly easily.

Lol, was just recently rear-ended in an XJ with this kit. Flattened the bumper, rear frame rails are mangled. Other than losing some paint, the shackles are perfect.

Win.

Sorta...

by adding 2" extended shackles your leaf springs will flatten and your shackle angle will be greater than 45 degrees. Ride quality will diminish. Why not a two inch block under the leaf springs? ride quality stays the same, shackle angle stays the same and leaf spring arch stays the same.

Axle wrap increases, springs fatigue fairly quick and you get to start over. Shackles > blocks on an XJ but neither alone work well on old springs for long.
