New to XJ's
My son and I recently purchased an '89 2 door XJ. It is mostly stock, but I'm sure it has some sort of lift on it. We're trying to figure out what size it is. I measured the tires at 29" tall. From the top of the tires up to the bottom of the plastic flares it measures 7.5" in the front and 5.5" in the rear. The coil springs are coated in an orange rubber that is peeling off (must be pretty old). As far as I can tell it has original control arms, track bar, tie rod and drag link. The previous owner didn't know much about any mods it may have had in its lifetime. Anyone have any idea what we have here? We will eventually pull the springs and measure but just a trying to get an idea of what we have. TIA
Im new also, just had to do this myself.
If you have your factory flares on. You measure from the center of the hub on the axle to the bottom of the flare.
17 1/2" front
17" rear
Or measure from the center of your axle to the first seam or bend above the flares:
22 1/2" front
25" rear
Any differences would be your lift. Any negative differences would be sag.
