Default New Project!!

Hey Guys, I was on this site a long time ago with my old cherokee (God I miss her). My friend and I just bought a 1996 cherokee 4.0L with 4" lift and plan to build it for an off road weekend trail-wrecker. My question is, those of you who off road - do you use 75-140 in the rear diff (Mine has Chrysler 8.25 Rear, D35 front) and have noticed that it is better? Just wondering because a guy I know who has a built cherokee says he only uses 75-140 in the rear AND front, I don't know if I like that, but I'd put it in the back with the friction modifier if others say they do it and have had good experience.

Also open to other suggestions.
Also - All 8.25's are LS right? I haven't opened it up yet, the guy I bought it from couldn't say much about it lol.

Thanks guys, it's good to be back. I can post some pictures of progress on another thread if anyone is interested.

I run 85w140 in both axles. Your front axle is a Dana 30, the rear 8.25s did have a limited slip option but most of them came with an open differential, which is good because you can drop a locker in the open carrier. Mine has the Up County package so it came with a limited slip 8.25, I had to change to an open carrier so I could put my Spartan locker in.

Thanks brother, this is a Cherokee classic, not sure if it has open or LS but I'll find out soon I suppose. Do you use anything different in transmission and t case or what's recommended?

I use the cheap Mercon rated ATF from Walmart in the transmission and t-case.
