Default New project

I have just brought a 1996 2 door 2 wheel drive 2.5L in line 4 with a standard transmission jeep Cherokee with 239,000 miles on the clock, I brought it to make in to a off road play toy, so I have some options, I haven't tried to get it running yet butI'll try that next week.

1. I have a 1989 jeep Cherokee 4x4 4.0 in line 6 that's totaled, I have all the parts to do an engine swap with transmission and transfer case and wiring harness, the engine does need to be overhauled, I know it's a renix engine.

2. Take out the 2.5 and build a stroker out of the 2.5 and then convert to a 4x4, change the transmision

3. Just overhaul the engine and then run it as is and then make my 1995 XJ in to a play toy, I also have a 4 door 4.0 4x4 with a 3 inch lift at the moment. But I think my wife would kick my butt from here to Mars as I only paid $500 for the 96 2 door and $3000 for my 95 which is my daily driver.

Looks like a lot of work to me, but I would probably choose option 1...or just fix up the 2.5L XJ (get it running and clean it up) and turn around and sell it for more than what you paid.
