New owner - advice on tires/lift
Just bought a 2000 Cherokee
PO put 31 inch tires on it - which rub. Basically I need some advice on how to minimize the rub for a fairly cheap price. I'm thinking either new tires or RE budget boost lift (2 in?) ...I'm new to this.
I'll be driving on the road 95% of the time, but want to be able to use the Jeep, we'll do some trail and beach driving....right now i'm bottoming out on any little bump. I like the tires and they're in good shape, so that's why i'm debating the BB.
But, the suspension seems rough. (From what i've read - if I do a BB and keep the old shocks I might regret it?)
Even though BB seems simple, I won't be doing any of the work myself.
What is my best option for under $600-700?
Any help is appreciated!

Its super easy to trim the fenders, that will give you plenty of room. And its free. Cut n fold the rear, cut the front. Take your time it will look good as factory. I used black door trim from wally world to smooth out the edges in the front. Youtube it. Mines also a 2000.

For 31's you want 3-3.5" lift. I recommend Rusty's or Zone for moderately priced lifts. But I'd only get suspension components from them. For Control arms or track bars I suggest IRO or RE. The other option would be piecing your lift together. Look at build threads and see what you want.

3 inch lift will be perfect, and honestly mine rode better after the lift then it did stock with the new shocks and the add a leaf. only cost about 300 so the price wasnt a killer

I spent less than $100 on my lift, with HD replacement leaves in the rear (found barely used on craigslist, less than 3000 miles on them) and RE coil spacers up front. Along with a little cut and fold on the fenders, I'm running 33's on my 1.5" lift with no issues.

You really dont need 3" to run 31s.
You can fit them stock with some slight trimming, and a bit of extra bumpstop.
3" and 31s though is the super common typical setup for small lifts though.
For what its worth ive ran the 3" rustys and the 3" RC and absolutely hated the rough country lift, the 3" rustys was way better.
If I were you and wanted to stay cheap id toss on some 2" shackles and go with either some new coils or a spacer and run JK shocks.
