The front driveshaft can be removed with an 8 mm open end wrench. (4) bolts at the front axle and (4) bolts at the transfer case. The jeep can be safely driven without the front driveshaft in.
Have them leave the front shaft off and throw it in the back of the Jeep. If you are feeling frisky, watch a couple youtube videos and rebuild your shaft. Probably cost $75 or so. If you are feeling reserved, buy a reman'd shaft and slap it in. Either way, DONT pay them $550 to put a front shaft in.

Thanks guys, I'm going to take the drive shaft off either tonight or this weekend. The jeep is still making this awful rattling grinding noise when you hit the gas to accelerate or let off and deccelerate. It doesn't make the noise while holding the gas down but when let off it does. Not too sure at this moment what it could be other than it being the driveshaft as i just had all the front end bearings replaced
Forgot to mention, when i shift into 4hi the noise becomes much more pronounced

Probably makes more noise in 4HI because the front driveshaft needs a rebuild. It's quieter in 2wd because there is no load on the front driveshaft, it just free-spins.

Thats what I'm hoping at this point. I thought it was the carrier bearing so i got those and my wheel bearings replaced (Which were shot and starting to cause DW) and i ended up finally locking my front end with a truetrac so im not too mad i got that work done. If its just the driveshaft then I'll be pretty happy. Just dont want to pull it off and have it be something else. I havent been able to get the noise on video yet as the normal jeep noises drowned it out
